BioMar has recently obtained ASC Feed Certification for its production facility in Nersac, France. As a key site producing feed for all life stages, including hatchery diets, this certification marks a significant milestone in France as the first ASC Certified aquaculture feed production facility in the country and expands BioMar’ s ability to supply ASC-conforming feed across species and regions in the West Mediterranean and Africa Region and sets.

“We are delighted to celebrate Biomar France‘s ASC Feed certification. As the first ASC certified feed production facility in France, Biomar demonstrates its strong commitments to sustainability and innovation, and sets a powerful example for others in the region to follow. This milestone marks a major step forward for responsible aquaculture in France,” said Camille Civel, ASC Regional Manager Southern Europe, France & Italy.

According to them, the Nersac factory plays a central role in BioMar’ s feed production network, supplying a wide range of aquaculture feeds. With this certification, BioMar can now provide ASC-conforming feeds to customers across West Mediterranean and Africa regions, supporting ASC-certified producers from the very beginning of the farming cycle.

Meeting Evolving Market Expectations

The ASC Feed Standard sets out rigorous requirements covering environmental responsibility, social and labor rights, health and safety, and the sustainable sourcing of raw materials. Certification of the Nersac facility demonstrates BioMar’ s ongoing dedication to delivering feed solutions that support both performance and responsible production.

“This certification strengthens our ability to support ASC-certified farmers at every production stage,” says Luis Garcia Romero, Managing Director at BioMar. “By offering ASC-conforming feed, we help our customers meet evolving market expectations and build value across the full value chain in the western mediterranean region as Nersac factory in France together with Dueñas factory in Spain are the responsible sites for supplying feed to the whole Western Mediterranean Europe and Africa” highlighted Luis.

Strong Foundation

The achievement follows a string of ASC Feed certifications across BioMar’ s global network, including facilities in Chile, Ecuador, Spain, Costa Rica, Norway, Denmark and the UK. Together, these certifications form a strong foundation that allows BioMar to supply ASC-conforming feeds for a growing number of species and farming systems worldwide.

Javier Soria, Food Manager at DNV in Iberia, said: “At DNV, we celebrate the continued progress of BioMar Group’s sustainability strategy, with the recent integration of its French factory into this initiative. This site joins the other group facilities in the challenge of ASC certification, a key tool to ensure responsible and sustainable sourcing of animal feed, contributing to the overall sustainability of the entire food supply chain.”

For them, this latest certification demonstrates BioMar’ s commitment to innovation, responsibility, and collaboration, helping aquaculture producers navigate a fast-changing industry while advancing the global transition to more responsible seafood production.

Supplier for Spain, Portugal and Markets in North Africa

Almost at the same time, the company announced that BioMar also has obtained ASC Feed Certification for its production facility in Dueñas, Spain. As a supplier of aquaculture feed for Spain, Portugal, and markets in North Africa, this certification marks a decisive step in BioMar’s global strategy to provide ASC conforming feeds in key regions.

The facility in Dueñas is key to BioMar’s presence in Southern Europe, delivering high-performance feed for a wide range of species including seabass, seabream, trout, and other marine and freshwater fish. With this new certification, producers across the Iberian countries and North Africa can now access AS conforming feed locally, supporting their ability to meet rising market expectations for transparency, responsibility, and certification alignment.

“With this achievement, we are proud to support our customers in Spain and Portugal, markets that play a leading role in European aquaculture, and to strengthen our commitment to responsible aquaculture,” assured Luis Garcia Romero, Managing Director of BioMar in the Western Mediterranean & Africa Region.

The ASC Feed Standard sets out strict requirements across environmental impact, social and labor rights, health and safety, and responsible sourcing of raw materials. Certification of the Dueñas facility reinforces BioMar’s dedication to aligning technical performance with responsible feed practices.
