Sirena Group’s, the exclusive sales and marketing representative for Norcod, announced the groundbreaking launch of Snow Cod in the Chinese market, securing a significant contract with Hi-Chain Food, a Chinese distribution giant. Their collaboration, supported by the Norwegian Seafood Council, has paved the way for the export of premium cod products, branded as Snow Cod, to over 100 Metro stores in China.

This strategic move aligns with Sirena Group’s commitment to facilitating international partnerships and fostering growth for sustainable seafood producers. “We are excited about the prospect for Snow Cod in China, with the country’s vast consumer base that holds great buying power, as well as an appreciation for premium seafood,” said Martin Buhl, Head of Strategy of Sirena Group.

According to them, the name Snow Cod encapsulates the unique selling points of this premium product, evoking the pristine crisp environment of Norway, the snow-white meat of Norcod‘s cod, and the purity of the meat as it is parasite-free and sashimi grade. Furthermore, it conveys associations of freshness, emphasizing that Norcod‘s cod is superior quality, going directly from the ocean to the harvest facility.

In the words of Sirena Group, there will be more exciting developments as they continue to support’s expansion not only in China but in other markets worldwide.

The significant deal with the new distribution partner in China includes an agreement for a minimum of 800 tones, constituting around 10 % of this year’s production plan.

China is indeed an exciting market for Norcod, and this deal marks a significant step towards becoming a profitable company. “We are pleased with the positive reception our fish has received in China and look forward to a promising future there. We’ve already commenced exports to China and secured placement in over 100 Metro stores”, assured from Norcod.

The members of the company said that they also see the potential to expand into other markets like the USA and Japan with their premium cod. “A big thank you to the Norwegian Seafood Council and Sirena Group for their support, which has been crucial for our entry into the Chinese market,” they affirmed in a public communication.
