The global leader in technologically advanced aquatic solutions for aquaculture and fish tracking, Innovasea, recently announced that it has hired Rudi Seim as Managing Director of its office in Bergen, Norway. With more than 15 years of experience in the global aquaculture industry, Seim arrives to Innovasea from Benchmark Genetics, where he served as head of production Norway and global fish health.
“Rudi was an ideal choice to lead our Norwegian business,” said Innovasea CEO David Kelly. “Not only does he have a great understanding of the market and strong contacts throughout the industry, but his background in genetics and egg production brings another area of expertise to Innovasea,” he added.
At Innovasea, Seim will oversee all operations in Norway, including business development, sales, field service and customer support. He holds a Bachelor of Science in economics and administration and a Master of Science in executive management, both from the Norwegian School of Economics. He also holds a master’s degree in aquamedicine from the University of Bergen.

NexTrak R1, available for pre-order
On another note, a few weeks prior to the announcement, Innovasea made its new NexTrak R1 acoustic telemetry receiver available for pre-sale. The R1 has shined in early field testing, giving aquatic animal researchers 40 percent greater range and double the detections compared to the previous technology, they reported.
“NexTrak was designed to provide researchers with deeper data sets so they could tackle new types of questions about animal behavior,” said Mark Jollymore, president of Innovasea. “We’ve been really pleased with how well the R1 receiver has performed in early deployments.”

NexTrak delivers advanced technologies, improved performance and more data, enabling scientists to explore new habitats and devise creative new approaches to their work.
According to Innovasea, the new system also provides with less interference and fewer tag collisions; signal strength data to better show the proximity of fish to deployed receivers; and higher quality data and enhanced post-processing capabilities.
“NexTrak makes aquatic animal tracking easier by making deployments, maintenance and data retrieval more efficient. In addition, the range improvement and better coverage mean less equipment to purchase up front, lowering the total cost of ownership and making acoustic telemetry more accessible.”
The NexTrak R1 is the first product in a larger NexTrak ecosystem that includes new receivers, transmitters and enhanced cloud-based tools that will provide researchers with a richer, more complete picture of animal behavior, they explained.
