Its extensive technical program will delve into key and highly topical aspects for the sustainability and growth of the aquaculture sector

The second edition of the International Aquaculture Industry Exhibition – AquaFuture Spain will be held in Galicia, Spain, from March 28 to 30. The Feira Internacional de Galicia Abanca exhibition center will once again host the event organized by OK Eventos, in which 160 companies from 24 countries will participate, 10% more than in the previous edition.

The exhibition area of the event will be 12,000 square meters, 9% more than in 2022, and this year will have as a novelty a large outdoor space for boats and large installations.

According to the director of AquaFuture Spain, Juan Lijo, the figures harvested so far by the new edition of AquaFuture, “allow us to ensure that we have achieved our main objective, to consolidate the event as a solid project for the future, an outstanding event in the international calendar.”

To this achievement, Lijo explained, is added in this second edition the participation of all aquaculture actors in Spain, from research centers, institutions and associations to producers. In addition, the number of international exhibitors has increased considerably in 2023, representing 35% of the total.

Dialoguing, deepening and reflecting with the help of experts

As explained from the organization of the event, one of the main attractions of Aquafuture Spain 2023 will be its technical conferences, which this year will again delve into key and highly topical aspects for the sustainability and growth of the aquaculture sector.

“Dialogue, deepen and reflect with experts, jointly, assessing where we are and where we are going in the sector”, is the main objective of the technical program of the international event, as explained Yolanda Morales, manager of Cluster Acuiplus, a collaborating entity of the event.

“We will talk about the field of plastics and how it is affecting its regulations along the value chain; we will have a table on internationalization and opportunities in other markets such as Chile and Morocco; there will be a specific table on financing aquaculture both from the point of view of operations and from initiatives and innovation; and the field of transport will also be addressed within the framework of product traceability; and also the challenges within animal welfare,” she detailed.

This year, the program will include the participation of the Spanish Aquaculture Business Association (Apromar, by its Spanish acronym), which will hold a specific round table on circular economy, a topic that generates great interest.

On another note, the organization continues to finalize the Show Cookings program which, after the good results of the first edition and the full house at all its sessions, will allow visitors to learn about and enjoy exquisite dishes prepared with aquaculture products, from clams and mussels to trout, turbot and seaweed.

All the necessary information

Those interested in participating in the event can visit www.aquafuturespain.com, where they can obtain all the necessary information to participate, as well as download their accreditation. This second edition of the International Aquaculture Industry Exhibition will be held from 10 am to 6 pm during its three days.

Spain is one of the main producers of European aquaculture, being considered a key sector in the food chain that is supported by a strong, competitive and highly technological value chain.

That is why it was essential to create an international meeting place for the industry in the country, as a showcase of the potential, quality and talent linked to this sector. Thus, Aquafuture Spain was born, designed as a point of reference for professionals in the international aquaculture sector.
