Billion Oyster Project announces Digital Oyster Hour 2020

Each May for the last six years, Billion Oyster Project has thrown the Billion Oyster Party! This year they have had to push the annual bash back to September 24, but who says we can’t toast to Billion Oyster Project’s mission and gather on Zoom for live cooking demonstrations and an epic Virtual Shucking Competition?

On Thursday, May 7, the Executive Director Pete Malinowski will be joined on Zoom by moderators Julie Qiu of In a Half Shell and George Motz, of The Food Film Festival for an oyster variety hour with special guests who will teach you how to order, shuck, store, prepare, and pair oysters at home!

Special guests will include Billion Oyster Project Shell Collection partners Chef Kerry Heffernan of Grand Banks, Assaf & Naama Tamir, the brother-sister duo from Lighthouse, and Moët Hennessy’s Education Specialist Angela Sauve.

They will also be hosting the first-ever VIRTUAL SHUCKING COMPETITION! The shucker showdown will feature winners and runners up from Billion Oyster Party shucking competitions of yore.
