By: Omega Azul

Omega Azul, a sustainability-focused, vertically integrated premium yellowtail fish farmer based in La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico, celebrates one full year of combined operations following its 2023 strategic union with Kampachi Farms Mexico (King Kampachi).

By strategically combining resources and expertise, the King Kampachi merger has bolstered Omega Azul‘s position in the market. This union has integrated three ocean concessions assets, a land concession for land-based production, two broodstock and hatchery facilities, a fully owned processing plant and super freezer, and an extensive Kampachi species genetics catalog, all of which are key to our future growth and success.

“We believe that the new Omega Azul has the potential and the capability to become a global leader in the emerging yellowtail segment.” – Roderick Chrisman, CEO, Omega Azul.

The merged entity currently produces 450 tons annually and targets production levels of 3,000 tons annually within five years as demand for the species and production grows. Omega Azul‘s concessions currently have a capacity of 7,500 metric tons annually.

According to Omega Azul CEO Roderick Chrisman, “We are already seeing strong growth in the demand for our sustainably farmed premium Kanpachi, and we expect demand for marine finfish species across the board to see significant growth over the coming years, specifically driven by growing interest in yellowtail species, which are quickly becoming an attractive alternative to other premium white fish and salmon. Omega Azul already has the necessary attributes in place to quickly become a leader in the yellowtail space with its Kanpachi offering. We expect a significant scale-up of the business over the coming months. We are doing everything possible to scale up supply to meet significant demand.”
