This week took place at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center, the Vietnam International Seafood Expo – Vietfish 2022, organized by the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP). Vietfish 2022 was made from August 24 to 26, receiving the participation of 170 companies, from 15 countries around the world, with 385 booths filling an area of more than 10,000 m² of the venue, in Ho Chi Minh City.
More than ten seminars were held during the three days of the exhibition with topics as ‘Demand and trends of the post covid-19 seafood market’; ‘Global Dialogue on Fisheries Traceability – Solutions and Common Interests of the Fisheries Industry’; and ‘Update methods for rapid testing of antibiotics-microbiology and industrial hygiene monitoring for seafood processing factories’.
During this event, VASEP signed two Memorandum of Understanding with the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam (CCIFV), to cooperate on enhancing trade and investment, and organize trade promotion programs; and with FrieslandCampina on food safety control, environmental responsibility, nutrition and welfare for employees.
‘Asia’s seafood house’
Vietfish is the largest international seafood exhibition in Vietnam with the slogan ‘Asia’s seafood house’, becoming a major event, a place where the quintessence of the export business community converges.
The exhibition shows images and achievements of the seafood industry, is a place of connection and trade between Vietnamese seafood enterprises and international customers; It is also a place for seafood businesses to access modern scientific and technical advances through auxiliary service providers for the seafood industry.
25th anniversary
During the gathering it was highlighted that, in 2023, will be the Vietnam International Seafood Expo 25th anniversary, and on the occasion the exhibition scale will be expanded in both Halls A and B to create more exhibition space and promotion activities for Vietnamese companies.
Vietfish 2023 will have the greater participation of seafood companies to introduce to domestic consumers high quality Vietnamese products, manufactured according to the most modern technology, managed according to chain system and achieved international certifications.
New experiences and perspectives
According to Truong Dinh Hoe, General Secretary of VASEP, after two years of hiatus (2020 and 2021) due to the impact of the covid-19 epidemic, Vietfish 2022 was held again with a new and more modern look, which was expected to brings new experiences and new perspectives on Vietnamese seafood sector.
This modern industry is looking towards sustainable, responsible development and has the goal of seafood export reaching USD 10 billion in 2022, and USD 12-15 billion in 2025, they assured.

As one of the outstanding activities at VIETFISH 2022, the series of events – seminars at VIETFISH has brought a panoramic and outstanding picture of the seafood industry in Vietnam and the world.”
The issues were such as ‘Market information global seafood, consumption trends and demand after COVID-19’; ‘Position and trend of Vietnamese shrimp in the world shrimp picture’; ‘Prevention of seafood trade risks after COVID-19’; ‘Building a Vietnamese seafood brand’; ‘ASC Standards: Integration and Implementation’; and ‘Application of high technology and digital technology in the seafood supply chain’.
