A seminar on ‘Taiwan aquaculture’ was held in the city on Wednesday night with a delegation of about 15 members of the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) throwing light on the great opportunity for growth of fisheries in India and Taiwan.
TAITRA Vice-President Simon Wang said Taiwan is a technology-driven island surrounded by abundant ocean resources. The country is also known as the kingdom of grouper fish farming and gained worldwide reputation on major advances in mass production and virus control.
Chief Executive Officer of National Centre for Sustainable Aquaculture, Kakinada, Shanmukha Rao gave a presentation on fisheries in India which was a very important economic activity and a flourishing sector.
The participants discussed the challenges and opportunities of Indian aquaculture market and TAITRA’s offer of comprehensive services to assist foreign businesses in Taiwan.
