The European country is seeing increased adoption of digital systems to improve operational oversight and coordination

Iceland-based company Wisefish has signed an agreement with Arnarlax, one of Iceland’s largest producers of farmed Atlantic salmon, to implement their sales and logistics business solution. The move comes as salmon farming in Iceland is seeing increased adoption of digital systems to improve operational oversight and coordination.

As a solution, Wisefish supports visibility and automation across the full value chain, from harvest through processing, logistic and sales, helping improve coordination between operational and commercial teams. As Linda Gunnlaugsdóttir, CSO at Arnarlax, says: “Implementing the Wisefish sales and logistics solution is an important step in further connecting our value chain.”

Real-Time Access

According to Yngvi Halldórsson, CEO at Wisefish: “When farming and selling fresh salmon, efficiency and transparency are essential. Having real-time access to reliable operational data is critical for sales and logistics, and Wisefish stood out because it allows us to bring several processes together in one system, giving us clearer insight into farming and harvesting and a more coordinated operation in the fast-moving environment of sales.”

And he added: “We are very pleased that Arnarlax has chosen Wisefish as its business platform.”

For him, “this implementation highlights the growing role of integrated systems in supporting efficiency and data-driven decision-making in the Icelandic aquaculture sector. Their operational complexity and scale make this a strong fit, and we look forward to working closely with their team.”

Vertically Integrated

Arnarlax is one of Iceland’s largest producers of farmed Atlantic salmon. The company is vertically integrated, covering hatchery, sea farming, harvesting, processing, and sales. Committed to sustainability and high-quality production, Arnarlax operates with a focus on fish health, responsible resource use, and minimizing environmental impact.

Founded in 2009, in Bíldudalur, a small Icelandic village inside a long fjord called Arnarfjordur, Arnarlax has from the beginning focused on three key factors when it comes to farming salmon: people, environment and biology.

Arnarlax´s vision is “sustainability, it´s in our nature” and with this in mind the company continuously works with neighboring farmers, local governments, and regulators on improving operations and reducing environmental footprint.

Arnarlax was the first farming company in Iceland to use lumpfish to reduce lice levels and has been working with government agencies to minimize the risk of organic load affecting the seabed underneath. Sustainability is a guiding principle from our Icelandic heritage that shapes our operations, underpins our values and drives our profitability.

The company recently appointed Robert Róbertsson as Chief Financial Officer, with effect before 1 June 2026. Robert is 39 years old, lives in Reykjavik, and will be based at their office in Urdarhvarf. Róbertsson has worked as CFO at Kaldvik for the past five years, and 10 years at Ernst and Young in transaction advisory services and audit. He brings solid industry experience together with strong capabilities in corporate finance and financial management.

“With 21 thousand tons targeted for 2026 and exciting years ahead for the industry in Iceland, we are confident that Robert will be a strong addition to our current team and that his experience and leadership qualities will strengthen our ability to deliver on our plan” says CEO Bjørn Hembre.
