With the purpose of promoting female leadership throughout the aquaculture industry and fostering the integral development of the women who are part of it, the World Organization of Women in Aquaculture (OMMA) presents “Women Transforming History, Cultivating the Aquaculture Future.”

This gathering brings together leaders, entrepreneurs, and professionals committed to the future of aquaculture, in a setting where talent, innovation, and female leadership take center stage.

“The goal of OMMA is to lead the transformation of the aquaculture industry, hand in hand and strengthened by the power of women’s empowerment,” said Eva Martínez, Executive Director of OMMA.

As part of its program, OMMA presents a panel featuring Beatriz Manrique, Daniela Yepez, María del Carmen Haro, and Lidia De Los Ríos — renowned leaders who share their perspectives on impact, innovation, and women’s empowerment in aquaculture. Their contributions reflect the diversity, leadership, and passion with which women drive the growth and transformation of this industry, both in Ecuador and around the world.

Justin Pincay, Corporate Communications Manager at VITAPRO, emphasized that “diversity, inclusion, and equity are not only principles but also the foundation of a truly sustainable industry.” He added, “That future will only be possible if it includes diversity, inclusion, and more women in decision-making spaces.”With this support, the company reaffirms its commitment to building a more equitable aquaculture sector.

María Fernanda Maldonado, Commercial Manager at BIOBAC, expressed her personal and professional connection with OMMA, stating that “the leadership of women will truly help make the aquaculture industry sustainable over time.” She also highlighted the movement’s importance not only from a professional standpoint but also as a woman.

The event will conclude with the forum “Women Transforming History, Cultivating the Aquaculture Future,” featuring Gabriela Mármol, Agustín Vera, and María Alejandra Rivera, moderated by Wendy Moscoso.

This event marks the beginning of a journey that seeks to inspire, connect, and open new opportunities to strengthen the aquaculture sector through the contribution and leadership of women.

OMMA is built upon three fundamental pillars: education, training, and sustainability, driving concrete actions to strengthen women’s participation and leadership at all levels of the sector.
