Visitas: 103

The new edition of the HavExpo International Fair was held in the port city of Bergen, Norway, from May 10 to 12. The city, considered the local capital of aquaculture, received more than 330 domestic and foreign exhibitors and 15,000 attendees, who were able to learn about the latest news from suppliers of the global aquaculture and fishing industry, in addition to attending important conferences and seminars.

After the end of the sectorial meeting, HavExpo organizers thanked all participants for their attendance and reminded that the next edition of the exhibition will be held on May 6 to 8, 2024. “Thank you all for participating in the first HavExpo in Bergen – we look forward to the next one!” they said on their social media.

Apart from the business exhibitions in the fair halls, this time HavExpo featured a rich program of professional conferences on research, management, innovation and technology. In the 2022 edition of the fair, more than 120 different lectures were held in two halls in Hall D. Participation in the lectures was included in the HavExpo entrance fee.

Research, management, innovation and technology

The conferences focused on two main focuses: developments in research and management, and innovation and technology. Some of the titles of the first focus were ‘Experiences with the use of low-trophic feed ingredients’, by Mari Moren, from Nofima; ‘Slam-Dunk Project – Collection and utilization of sludge from aquaculture’, by Dorinde Kleinegris, from Norce; and ‘Collection of salmon droppings and the hunt for renewable energy and phosphorus’, by Ole Arthur Vaage, from Ragn-Sells Aquaculture.

In the second area, some of the lectures were ‘Alternative energy sources in land-based farming’, by John Hjelseth, Project Manager of Schneider Electric; ‘Circular economy in aquaculture’, by Hanne Digre, from Scale AQ; and ‘New sequencing methods open up new opportunities in Aquaculture’, by Renate Johansen, from Pharmaq.

A positive experience

HavExpo is considered one of the most important fishing and aquaculture trade fairs in the world. Exhibitors, speakers and visitors from home and abroad come to learn about the latest developments in the industry. “It has been a uniquely positive and enjoyable experience,” opined Njål Tvedt, Southern regional director of Norway-based international company Scale AQ, on the first day of HavExpo.

Everything went very smoothly. Parking, registration and all the practicalities were easy. We’ve had good visitors, with lots of good leads. After all, it is important to have many breeders present, not just suppliers,” he added.

Jarle Ragnhildstveit, Product Manager of Lift Up Framo, also took stock of his participation at the show. “We can do nothing but applaud. This has been wonderful for us. HavExpo just has to become permanent. There was visits from all over the country and it seems that this fair is very welcome. I can only say that the facilities here are fantastic. There is such good service here and so many people who are here to help and assist us”.

“It has been an extreme push all day. We have barely had time for everyone who has stopped by. It has been great for us in terms of showing what we deliver. Here we get both those who will use the equipment and the decision makers on the stand at the same time. We present our products in an excellent way”, Ragnhildstveit added.

An important group of Chilean companies

It is interesting to note that among the participants, there was a large group of companies operating in Chile, including ACE Aquatec, AKVA Group, Alltech, Amar Group, Aqua Pharma, Aquabyte, AquaService, Atlas Copco, Benchmark Genetics, Cargill, Elanco, Garware, Innovasea, Innovasea, Intership, MSD Animal Health, Nofima, Oxzo, Pharmaq, ScaleAQ, Schneider Electric, Signify, Skretting, Smir, Solvtrans, Steen-Hansen, Stim, Vard Aqua.

The organizer of the fair is HavExpo, a company owned by Sotra Sportsklubb and AqKva AS.Noruega. HavExpo was held in Bergen, a city of 275,000 inhabitants located on the southwest coast of Norway, close to the North Sea, and only seven hours from the capital (Oslo).
