International company Skretting announced that AquaVision 2022 will take place next June 13-15 in Stavanger, Norway. Leaders from the global aquaculture industry will gather in the city to gain inspiration and insight into the future of blue and sustainable food, they said in a press release. Registration for the leading international aquaculture business conference has already begun.
At the meeting, industry leaders will share their vision and attendees can learn how to expand the possibilities of the aquaculture value chain for the future, Skretting said. AquaVision 2022, the organizers explained, aims to inspire stakeholders across the aquaculture value chain to work towards a food system that can sustainably feed a world population that will reach 10 billion people by 2050.
“As global markets increasingly demand verifiable and fully traceable sustainable products, it is clear that aquaculture has a critical role to play in feeding a rapidly growing world population,” they added.
Meeting the demand for blue food in the future
AquaVision 2022 aims to challenge leaders from business, food, science, policy and academia to share new knowledge, new ideas, new technologies, and to discuss how best to deliver tangible, positive action to meet the demand for blue food in the future.
In the spirit of AquaVision, the conference will address the profile of sustainable aquaculture with decision makers. The focus will be on sustainability along the supply chains all the way to the consumers’ table.

Nobel laureate Joseph Stiglitz will participate at AquaVision 2022
Some days ago was announced that the Nobel Prize-winning economist Professor Joseph Stiglitz will be the keynote speaker at the international aquaculture conference in Stavanger.
Economic policy and global growth and decline play an important role in a demanding time. Professor Stiglitz will address the effects of Covid-19, challenges with increased raw material costs, inflation and increased interest.
“We are honored that Professor Stiglitz is joining us. The important contributions he has made and the insight he will bring to AquaVision will benefit the entire audience. We cannot wait!,” said Therese Log Bergjord, CEO Skretting.
In 2001, Professor Stiglitz was awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics for his analyzes of markets with asymmetric information. He was the lead author of the Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in 1995, which won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007. In 2011, TIME named Professor Stiglitz one of the 100 most influential people in the world.
“Professor Stiglitz was Chief Economist and Senior Vice President of the World Bank in the period 1997-2000. In the last 15 years, he has written a number of books that have had a major impact on the global debate. Among his honors are more than 40 honorary doctorates, including from Cambridge and Oxford University.“
About Professor Stiglitz’s participation in AquaVision 2022, Log Bergjord said: “We are honored that Professor Stiglitz is joining us. The important contributions he has made – to macroeconomics and monetary theory, to development economics and trade theory, to public and business finance, to the theories of industrial organization and district organization, and to the theories of welfare economics and of income and wealth distribution – and the insights he will bring to AquaVision will benefit the entire audience. We cannot wait!”
