Texas A&M University (TAMU) Process Engineering Research & Development Center will host its 26th annual short course on aquaculture feed extrusion, nutrition, and feed management August 25 to 30 on its campus in College Station.

Written by: Pet Food Processing Staff

The goal of the five-day practical short course is to train production personnel on the principles and characteristics of extruders, as well as the support systems available for selection and operation of extruders for the aquaculture industry.

Participants will also benefit from a review of current aquaculture feed preparation and production best practices, several different equipment demonstrations, and a review of nutrition and feed management practices.

Key topics to be discussed include aquaculture nutrition, ingredients and vitamins, material handling and grinding, drying and coating, floating, sinking and high fat extrusion, processing and troubleshooting.

The TAMU Engineering Experiment Station and Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences have also helped to organize the practical short course.
