By Editorial VOCM News
Fisheries Minister Jonathan Wilkinson has announced a single, comprehensive set of regulations to offer clarity on how the industry is run.
A study has also been ordered on alternative aquaculture technologies and the development of a risk management framework with area-based management plans.
Mark Lane told Paddy Daly on the VOCM Morning Show says the federal government recognizes what he calls the opportunities presented by the aquaculture industry.
He says there is a huge demand for Canadian seafood around the world and farming the ocean is a growth sector that needs to be properly regulated to meet what he calls “the world’s hunger for seafood.”
