Aquaculture facility in Waterbury begins raising fish

The fish farm at 64 Avenue of Industry in Waterbury will have a population of about 350,000 European sea bass, also known as branzino, when the project is finished. 

Great American Aquaculture is finishing work on what will be the largest recirculated salt water aquaculture facility in the United States. 

The fish farm at 64 Avenue of Industry in Waterbury will have a population of about 350,000 European sea bass, also known as branzino, when the project is finished. 

Company President Eric Pedersen says it will be the only local source of European sea bass, which is currently shipped to the Northeast from the Mediterranean.
